Question about my sprained ankle?

So about 5 days ago I sprained my ankle. Minor sprain, I guess. I went to the doctor and they told me to wear a brace and not walk on my foot. I've worn the brace, did the whole R.I.C.E thing for about 4 or 5 days now.. but just today I decided to walk on it. It doesn't hurt too bad but it's uncomfortable to walk. If I just start walking again and give up on letting it heal... what will happen?
