Does this sound like pneumonia in my rat?

A month or so ago, my rat started making pigeon noises. We thought it was strange but didn't think much of it. It started getting worse so we went to the pet store to buy him really comfy litter (we were using pine) and the lady at the pet store said that rats have sensitive nasal passages and that the pine might of affected him. At this moment, our rat has only gotten worse. The new litter hasn't done much and he is getting worse. Around his nose, it is red and mucusy. He has hair-loss all over his face and a bit on his back. His energy has gone so down hill. When we cleaned his cage, we put newspapers in as usual (he usually stores it) but he hasn't done a thing. He has shown no interest in his food at all! We are so worried! Does this sound like pneumonia to you?
