How do I tell my parents I've been made redundant?

I started a new job three months ago and found out yesterday that my department is moving to a city 5 hours away. So I've kept my job but technically I've lost it as I am unable to take up this new off. I work part time and the rent on a place over there would be too high. They knew this! Anyway I just can't bring myself to tell my parents. They'll be devestated! The thought of me lounging around on the dole will bother them. How can I tell them I've lost my job but make it look positive. I already have applied to a few places so hopefully I'll hear something back.
