My toe goes numb for no reason?

Basically for ages my toe keeps numbing itself for no ( obvious ) reason? It's just happened to me whilst I was laying down, it also causes pain in my heal:/ my mum just rubbed my toe and it was better, but then as soon as I moved it locked itself into place/ numbed itself again! What is it? And is it serious!?
